How to run the Fire Brigade Demo ================================ This demo has been compressed to save disk space. Before running the game the files must first be extracted from the archive (FB_DEMO.LZH). The compression program (LHARC.PRG) has been provided for this purpose. For those unfamiliar with the LHARC program, please follow this procedure. If you have a hard disk and the files LHARC.PRG and FB_DEMO.LZH are in the same directory, Double-Click on LHARC.PRG, type 'E FB_DEMO' at the command line and press return. If you are using floppies, put a formatted double sided disk in drive A and the disk with FB_DEMO.LZH in drive B. Now type 'E B:\FB_DEMO A:\*.*' at the command line. If you have only one drive, you will probably prefer to have the FB_DEMO.LZH file in a ramdisk. To run the game, Double-Click on FB_DEMO.PRG. The demo version is fully featured except that it will quit automatically after 10 turns (after giving you your victory status, that is). The icons that appear at the bottom of the Tactical Map (Telephone, Binoculars, etc.) are the means by which you control the game. For example, to instruct 48th Panzer corps to attack Kiev, you would do the following. Click on the crosshairs icon. The cursor will change to reflect your choice. Now position the mouse cursor on the 48th HQ and press the mouse button. Keep it held down while you drag the cursor to Kiev. When the cursor is over Kiev, the word 'Kiev' will appear on the right of the menu bar. Now release the mouse button. An image of the 48th HQ will appear at Kiev as well as the symbol for it's current orders. (Note that this image is only a signpost and cannot be manipulated in the same manner as an actual HQ!) The next step is too set the HQ orders to attack. To this, select the 'Attack' icon (the thin, solid arrow) and use it to click on 48th. The 'Orders' signpost will alter to show the changed orders. The game is fairly easy to play once this system is mastered, so further explanation shouldn't be necessary (There isn't room here anyway!). Of course, if you have trouble figuring it out, you can always buy it! One way or another, I hope you enjoy the game. Steve Adam e_ Ty5aߓ'^ֶA3Q(d
